Ep.16 / An Inclusive & Conscious Approach to Healthcare with Dr. Brooklynne Palmer

an integrative look at Lifestyle and culinary medicine

LISTEN NOW

Dr. Brooklynne Palmer is a resident physician and content creator (@BeetsByBrooke). She uses her background in nutrition, medicine, public health, and size inclusivity along with her identity as a Black queer vegan to explore the intersectionality of health and wellness. She is an expert in culinary medicine and is getting her medical training in preventive medicine.

In this episode, we cover all of it. We talk about how she brings intersectionality to the field of lifestyle medicine, as well as her perspectives on being a more conscious and effective healthcare provider in general. Included in these perspectives is the importance of helping a patient to feel seen and heard, and the importance of not focusing on weight as the primary indicator or behavior change for health.

Brooke also shares her personal story, both in regards to her own relationship with food and the journey of that healing process, and with her mental health through the challenges of medical school.

I am so grateful that people like Brooke are changing healthcare from the inside out. We are so in need of these shifts, and I’m such a cheerleader to all the gamechangers out there making it happen.
